Fire damage – 19th century painting

Before treatment: Due to massive heat from a fire the paint layer blistered. The surface is soiled with soot and the varnish is yellow. The surface was cleaned and afterwards the varnish removed. The blisteres were consolidated and flattended.

The painting was exposed to open fire- the surface shows a dense soot layer and blisters.
Condition after treatment.
 
Condition during treatment: In a first step most oft he soot was removed.
Condition during treatment: The next step was the removal of the varnish layer.
